Diane Diekman

Welcome!

I have moved to a new site.  Please visit http://dianediekman.com.

Welcome to the web site of Diane Diekman in Washington DC, USA. I'm a South Dakota farm girl who became a U.S. Navy officer and freelance nonfiction writer.

On this site you'll find information about my life, my Navy career, country music singer Faron Young, good books to read, and whatever else occurs to me to add.

At the top of this page, click on A Farm in the Hidewood or Navy Greenshirt to read the first chapters of my two memoirs.

While a first grader, I won the prize for reading more books than any of the other 13 students in the first through eighth grades. I haven't stopped reading since. Check out "Books I Like" for a list of my favorites. "My Articles" offers a collection of my writings and speeches, including some articles not previously published.

The "Faron Young" section of this site contains a profile of Faron, several articles I wrote about him, and a list of his Country Deputies. Do you have questions about his discography? I can tell you if he recorded a certain song and on what album. Do you want to know what happened to any of the Deputies? I'd be happy to answer questions about them. Contact me at diane@dianediekman.com.

The University of Illinois Press has published Live Fast, Love Hard: The Faron Young Story, my biography of country music singer Faron Young (1932-1996). It is available in most bookstores and can be ordered on-line worldwide.

I'm now in the research phase for writing the biography of Marty Robbins (1925-1982), another of my favorite singers. The title is Twentieth Century Drifter: The Life of Marty Robbins.

I recently became an Independent Mary Kay Beauty Consultant, and I invite you to visit my Web site at www.marykay.com/ddiekman for the latest skin care and beauty products.
